Introducing Mpact Waste Management | Get to Know Us

In October 2022, Mpact Recycling, South Africa’s leading collector of recyclable packaging, announced that their on-site waste management service offering (previously called Remade On Site) would be branching off into its own business. It would be called Mpact Waste Management and be its own independent brand, part of the Mpact group.

Mpact is the leading paper and plastics packaging manufacturer and recycling business in Southern Africa. Its integrated business model is uniquely focused on closing the loop in the plastic and paper packaging manufacturing cycle by continuously maximising value and minimising waste.

The previously named Remade On Site was the on-site waste management service offering within Remade Recycling. It comprises a team of experts that create bespoke waste management solutions for our clients and work on site at their premises.

The background

To understand these changes, we need to go back in time to 2016 when Mpact Recycling acquired Remade Recycling. This addition complemented a number of our initiatives and increased our own collection of paper, plastic, glass and cans, which increased recycling rates of these products in South Africa. The acquisition also aimed to enhance our business offering, including the provision of on-site waste management services, and give it a national footprint.

Six years later, our aim had been achieved. In fact, Remade On Site has outgrown Gauteng, with additional teams based in both KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape and operations in the Free State and Limpopo. The strategic decision served to make Remade On Site its own independent brand under Mpact’s recycling business, so it could grow as a business and focus on its core purpose of waste management and meeting its clients’ diverse needs.

Working in conjunction with our Mpact Recycling branches is also key to closing the loop in the circular economy (our purpose), as valuable recyclable materials are put back into the recycling stream and made into new products (by other businesses including our own like Mpact Paper, Mpact Corrugated and Mpact Plastics). This also reduces the amount of waste going into landfills.

Mpact Waste Management experts are a dynamic, skilled team with over three decades of experience providing waste management solutions. The teams operate at over 250 sites nationally, offering tailormade solutions for businesses of all sizes, big or small.

With Mpact Waste Management, customers will always have a single point of contact and the team is easily accessible. The sales representatives get to know their sites intimately so they understand a business’ waste patterns, can advise accordingly and adapt an environmentally acceptable solution where needed.

This unique on-site perspective allows Mpact Waste Management to assist businesses in reducing the amount of waste going to landfill by, identifying what can and cannot be recycled, and what is potentially hazardous waste. Business owners can also be assured of legal compliance through the implementation of on-site waste management solutions.

With over 30 years’ experience in waste management, Remade On Site was already great, but by adding the Mpact name and becoming Mpact Waste Management, the business can really spread its wings and fly. It’s the same great team now just with added Mpact.
