With stricter legislation and mandated sustainability targets, corporate waste management reports are not only important for gauging existing reforms and policies; they’re legally required from all South African businesses. However, accurately gathering that data to compile a report is time-consuming and distracting. Surely, a business would rather focus on business?
Mpact Waste Management has always been happy to take on our clients’ recycling, composting, and waste disposal burden, and has always measured our services completed on-site. To report on our services, we launched the first version of our client reporting system in 2023, which was shared with a few of our clients for testing.
Since 2023, Mpact Waste Management has been developing a new version of the client reporting system to update its features and provide clients with further convenience and a more robust experience. And thus, our goal was clear: an intuitive, accessible, universally compatible software platform, able to stage accurate waste management data, for compiling our clients’ reports. In April 2024, that goal was realised when we launched the Mpact Waste Management Client Portal – a browser-based solution that simplifies and improves the way our clients assess, plan, and report on their waste management policies.
This solution empowers our clients with the data, the resources, and the capability, to navigate the complexities of waste management with confidence and ease. Through a comprehensive suite of intuitive tools that harness the power of data, this platform is set to transform the Mpact Waste Management client experience.
Read on to see how:
Seamless navigation
Accessed through a user-friendly website, the Mpact Waste Management Client Portal provides a seamless experience from login to data visualisation. Users are greeted with an intuitive landing page that presents a concise yet thorough overview of their waste management metrics. This includes vital information such as total costs, breakdown of expenses between landfill and diverted waste, rebates, and overall waste volume, all automatically generated and auto loaded every full calendar month. The client can also choose to report on data over extended periods by selecting multiple months.
In-depth analysis
Delving deeper, users can explore detailed reports offering in-depth analyses of their waste management performance. These reports encompass financial data alongside sustainability metrics, empowering users to grasp both the economic and environmental implications of their waste disposal practices. Customisable date ranges enable users to compare data over time, while the Mpact Waste Management Client Portal’s drill-down functionality facilitates granular examination of specific data points, empowering informed decision-making.
Extra control
User access is aligned to roles, with varying levels of permissions granted to internal stakeholders and external clients. Senior users enjoy access to comprehensive financial and sustainability data, enabling them to make strategic decisions informed by robust insights. Meanwhile, integration with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems ensures seamless data flow, automating the retrieval of information for recyclables and ensuring data accuracy.
Streamlined processes
Continuous development and improvement are key to this platform succeeding, and further insight and user feedback will provide the data for these enhancements and updates to be implemented. This iterative approach ensures that the Mpact Waste Management Client Portal remains responsive to the evolving needs of our clients and waste management teams, delivering ongoing value and an even more intuitive user experience.
Absolute Compliance
The Mpact Waste Management Client Portal is there to help our clients meet South Africa’s comprehensive waste management laws; specifically, The National Environmental Management: Waste Act which mandates producer responsibility.
Reporting helps ensure compliance by meeting all the key deliverables:
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR): Under EPR regulations, producers are responsible for the disposal of their products throughout the product’s lifecycle. Reporting is essential to proving that a business is EPR compliant.
Environmental Stewardship and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSI): Reporting on waste management helps companies demonstrate their commitment to environmental stewardship. It’s a way for businesses to prove that they’re trying to reduce waste, increase recycling rates, and implement sustainable practices.
Data-Driven Decision-Making: Regular reporting provides companies with data that can be used to improve waste management strategies. By analysing waste patterns, types, and disposal methods, companies can identify areas for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and environmental impact reduction.
Enabling Circular Practices: By effectively managing and reporting on waste, companies contribute to the circular economy, which aims to keep resources in use for as long as possible and to recover and regenerate products and materials at the end of their service life.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Reporting allows for the monitoring and evaluation of waste management policies and practices both at the corporate and national levels. This is crucial for assessing the effectiveness of current waste management strategies and for planning future initiatives.
Conclusion
We’re proud to be able to offer the use of this software to our clients. It’s a powerful tool that will add value to the pursuit of a sustainable business practice through myriad analytics, detailed and harmonised financial and sustainability goals.
Overall, it is our hope that this software will become indispensable, equipping clients with the insights, resources, and capabilities needed to optimise their waste management practices, drive sustainability initiatives, and achieve lasting environmental impact.
And, of course, we will keep innovating for a more sustainable future.
